Swami Kirtidananda

Srimath Swami Kirtidanandaji Maharaj was born as Srikantayya in an orthodox family at Bangalore on 25th June 1925. He had his education at National high School and graduated from Central College. He joined the Ramarksihna Order in 1946 at its Bangalore Centre under Rev. Swami Tyagishanandaji Maharaj. He had Mantra Deeksha from Srimath Swami Virajanandaji Maharaj, the 6th President of the Ramakrishna Sangha and had Sannyasa Deeksha from Rev. Swami Shankaranandaji Maharaj in 1957.

He was the Joint-Editor of Prabuddha Bharata during 1964-66.

He was a monk of deep scriptural knowledge, a serious thinker and writer, good conversationalist and a talented organizer. He very orthodox by nature; loved and respected by all who came into intimate contact with him. His article on “Half a decade in the Enchanting Environs of Along” in Prabuddha Bharata Jan-June 2003 issues and “Descent of the Divine at Lohaghat” in 1999 Mayavati Centenary issue of Prabuddha Bharata are very highly appreciated besides his enlightened articles expressing deep and serious thoughts bear witness to his personality.

He passed away on 10th June, 2007 at Ramakrishna Math, Ulsoor in Bangalore, where he was leading his retired life.

Thank you for the nice information about Swami Kirtidanandaji. It sounds like he may have passed away recently, but you don't say if he did or not. Please let us know more details. I had met Swami Kirtidanandaji at the Delhi centre back in 1996.
